Wing Mung Young August 27th 1923-March 7th 2011

On Monday March 7th, 2011 my grandfather Wing Mung Young was reunited with his beloved Helen Anna Bechert Young, his "punches". He was a very loyal, hardworking, dedicated man who had an abundance of love and affection for his family. He had his own way of letting you know he approved of your decisions and was always generous with his time, talents, and all that he had. This generosity did not end with his family or his church but extended to any in need.

My grandfather was a very wise book keeper. He kept very detailed records of all his debts and all that went out. Because he was so great at managing his money he was always able to provide for his family. He would write personalized letters instead of buying a card but include the cost of the card toward in his letter. It was a very peculiar habit that is now so endearing to me.

He was the family photographer and loved to document every family gathering with his expert camera skills. He started this hobby when he and my grandmother were dating. The earliest of his work that I saw was from the 1940's. They were beautiful photos.

Some of my fondest memories are the mornings we would go to the Laie Temple to attend a session to start our day. In the weeks before my mission we did this many times. It meant a lot to me that after my grandmother died I was the first person he asked to attend the Temple with him.

I remember one birthday of his I didn't have any money to buy a gift so my husband suggested that I make him a card. So I took a picture of him and my grandmother when they were young for the cover of my card and wrote on the inside that because of his birth and their marriage he was able to create all of us and teach us so many things throughout his years with us that allow us to be better people and to be more Christ like. He was very touched and told me "This was the best gift he had gotten", and that I didn't have to pay him back for the money he had lent me to go to college that semester.

In my mind there are so many memories like these. He was always teaching, and serving is family. He was always there for us and never let us down.

My grandfather is a great man and I am so proud to be his grand daughter. I am grateful that Jonathan was able to meet the man he is named after and spend time with him. I will always cherish the memories I have and keep his example in the forefront of my mind as I raise my own children. I will try to raise them to be the kind of man he was.

Aloha Oe, Until we meet again.

Thomas Baby Blessing

On March 6th Thomas Francis Ross Yadao was given a blessing and a name by his father Michael Ross Yadao. He was blessed to have love for his parents and to bring peace into our lives. In the blessing circle were Bishop Michael Scott Vincent, Wendell Naumu, and my father Dexter Young. Usually my grandfather Wing Mung Young is also participating in the blessing but in the middle of February he had two bad falls at home and was hospitalized. He was unable to attend. In the audience from our family were Grandma Joy and Pops, Aunty Jenny and Ron, Aunty Kathryn, and Aunty Amy. It was so wonderful to have our whole family there. After the Sacrament service we all went outside to take pictures. That evening the whole family got together to celebrate. It was a great day!

Matthew's 5th Birthday-2010

Dear Matthew,
Today was your 5th birthday! We started the morning at Pancakes and Waffles for breakfast! You had Strawberry Pancakes, while Jonny and I had Strawberry Waffles. And of course we all had hot chocolate!

After a Yummy breakfast we went to buy your birthday cake! Because your favors were Spiderman Themed I figured you would want that kind of birthday cake as well but when we got to Delight Bakery you wanted the Bakugan cake! So that is what you got!

Then we got home to get ready for your party! This year you decided that you wanted to have your celebration at the movie theaters! So mommy and daddy planned a movie party at Ward Theaters! We invited 4 of your friends. Pearce Phillips, Kiai, and Kaimalu Saturnal, and Coby Kintaro! In addition to your friends both Lily and Jonathan were there! Grandma Joy, Pops, Aunty Jenny, and Kuuipo were there as well! We had hot dogs, pop corn, and juice. We saw the movie "Tangled" and were amazed that all the kids behaved so well! After the movie all your friends parents came and got them and we went home to rest before our family came over for dinner!

It is a tradition in our family that we celebrate each birthday with a family dinner. The family member who's birthday it is gets to choose what kind of food we will eat. You chose Pizza! All of your family members were in attendance and we had a wonderful time! We sang happy birthday too you and opened all your presents! This year you got lots of new clothes, Bakugan Battle figures, and a Camera! You were a very happy boy!

Matthew this year has been so exciting for you! You graduated from preschool, started kindergarten at Kapalama Elementary School, and are expecting a new baby brother! You had some difficulty adjusting to kindergarten but you were only 4yrs old and after a little time you are doing much better! Everyone at your school knows your name and you have lots of friends. You also gave another solo in the primary presentation in church this past year! You knew all the words and were able to follow the piano. You sang all three verses of "Follow The Prophet" and were excellent. At Papa Dx's suggestion we started seeing a tutor. "Aunty Robin" has really helped you learn letter sounds and pre reading skills. She also has helped with your fine motor skills. Her tutelage really helped build a good foundation for your academics.

Matthew We love that you are so excited to be a big brother again and ask lots of questions about the process. Your excitement and happiness help Bear accept this change and feel excited about it as well! He will always follow your lead and help you along in life so rely on him. We are excited to see what this year brings our family! We love you so much and love to see you grow.

Love Mom and Dad

Families Can Be Together Forever

Thomas Francis Ross Yadao

On Saturday February 5th 2011 I delivered via C-section my newest Son Thomas Francis Ross Yadao! I was quite nervous on the evening before with many thoughts racing through my mind. Will there be complications? Will he be okay? Who will be administering the spinal block in my back? What will Dr. Chun find? I can't believe I finally get to meet Thomas! So much apprehension and so much excitement all at the same time! What will Thomas look like? Will he be calm or fussy? Who's coloring will he have? It took a long time before I could finally fall asleep I awoke the morning of the 5th excited and nervous. I took a shower, got dressed, put on my make up, and read my scriptures. I asked Michael to give me a blessing before we left our home. Traditionally we wait until right before I go in but I was so nervous I asked for one before we left. In the blessing Michael asked that all might be well for both baby and I. After that I felt completely at ease.

On the way to the hospital Michael tells me that the middle name we had picked for Thomas was not going to work. Originally he was to be named Thomas Michael Ross Yadao but Michael backed out of that at the last second...so then he says Thomas Kennedy Ross Yadao...I was like...nope. So we kept driving. In my head I was thinking well what would be a good fit...then I heard Thomas Francis Ross Yadao. I thought it was a perfect fit but was hesitant to tell Michael.

We arrived at Kapiolani Hospital exactly on time 5:30am and checked in at the Registration office. They issued us our parking passes and up to Labor and Delivery we went. We checked in again at Labor and Delivery and they moved us to the triage room. In the triage room my nurse Zandra took all my information and hooked me up to baby monitors. They put in my I.V. and Foli Catheter and took my vital signs. Then I met my anesthesiologist. Dr. Chan was very personable. He asked me what my concerns were and listened very attentively as I told him I had a cold and was worried that it might make me feel even more like my breathing would be restricted during the procedure. He told me that many patients feel like they cannot catch their breath and that is due to the spinal block used during the procedure. He said that it's because sometimes the medicine goes up too far and it makes the lungs feel numb so even though the person is breathing normally it makes them feel like they aren't. I felt very much at ease after he answered all my questions. After I spoke with Dr. Chan Dr Chun came in and drew a line on the bottom of my belly where he would start the procedure from. Then he asked me if I was tying my tubes. I said "NO! That's like the third time you asked me that!" He just laughed. I said "When you get in there you supposed to tell me if it is safe to have more children" That was our agreement. Once he removed Thomas we would know if we could have more children or not. So Dr. Chun finished drawing his line and said he would see us inside.
Once they moved me to the operating room Michael had to wait outside. They had me move from my triage bed to the operating bed where I sat and waited for Dr. Chan to administer the spinal block no matter how many times I have had this procedure done I still get very nervous. Zandra held my hands and had me arch my back so they could find just the right spot to administer the medicine. Dr. Chan talked me through the entire process. He first felt with his knuckle the spot where he would inject the numbing medicine. Then he said it would feel like a bee sting. I felt the sting and tried my hardest not to move. After that he told me I would just feel pressure. I felt the pressure but had to make sure not to move an inch. I was blessed that I only felt pressure. Once he was through administering the medicine he had me lie down and tilted my head towards the floor so the bed I was lying on was tilted backwards. He said that this made the medicine flow upwards faster. He did several tests to measure how far numb I was as the medicine traveled up my body. Being numbed up like that feels weird cause all you feel is warmth and an inability to move. Once they were sure that I was numb they put oxygen on my nose and allowed Michael to come in. Then they started to bring baby out. During the other two c-sections Michael was always very animated, trying to take my mind off of what was happening. During Jonathan's surgery he calmed me by talking about wrestling and doing imitations of this one wrestler we had just watched a biography about that always made me laugh. He would say...." Who would've thought that 250lbs of blue eyed soul, would come to captivate a nation as I have." That line still makes me laugh. But this time he was super quiet. just communicating with me through his eyes and head nods...what little he did say was always I love you, everything is ok. At this point Michael says Thomas Francis Ross Yadao and I just nod my head. I thought it so neat that we both were told this name and glad I didn't tell him I knew it was his name in the car.
Finally, after what seemed to me like FOREVER! My little baby Thomas arrived. Dr. Chun told Michael as he was pulling baby out so he could take pictures. While that was happening all you hear from the surgery staff is...wow look at how much fluid there is....oh and look at how BIG he is! Holy Cow! Then Dr. Chun brought Tommy to the barrier so I could see his little face! He was so darling....now I know only a mother can think that because as you can see from the photo's above brother is covered in goop and blood but I tell you at that point there was nothing more beautiful than that little baby boy!
After Michael and I got a look at him they whisked him to the scale to take vital signs and measure him and all the rest.
At this point Dr Chun says to us "You asked me to tell you if you should have more children....you shouldn't your uterine lining is paper thin and you would risk the life of you and your next baby if you tried." I still cry when I remember his words but I just looked at Michael and nodded. We both knew that multiple c-sections of very large babies would limit how many we could have but...I hadn't expected it to be so soon. I wanted another baby and thought because my pregnancies were so good I could easily have another...but its not meant to be and that's alright.
Just after that we hear them call out Tommy's stat's! 9lbs 11oz, 21 3/4 inches long, 15 inch head, 13 inch chest! WHAT! HOLY CrOW! No wonder my lining was thin I was carrying a 6 month old in my body! That also explains why everyone asked me if I was having twins and also why the last week before my c-section I didn't move very much! It truly is a miracle what our bodies can do.I thank Heavenly Father every day that I was able to carry him to term and that he was so very, very healthy!

No words can express the love and gratitude we feel to our Heavenly Father for the safe delivery of our three beautiful sons and the life we get to create with them.

Obituary: Dean H. Parker - Past NAA President
by National Auctioneers Association on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 9:17am
Dean H. Parker
April 11th, 1931 - August 20th, 2009

Obituary:
Dean H. Parker, beloved husband, father, and grand-father, passed away
peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on August 20, 2009 due to
heart complications.

Dean was born on April 11, 1931 in Mt. Sterling, UT, to Henry and Sadie
Parker; the third of six children. After living in several towns in
Northern Utah and Southern Idaho, the family settled in the Ogden area
where Dean attended school, graduating from Weber High School in 1949.
It was during his high school years that Dean met the love of his life
and eternal companion, Marilyn Sessions. They were married on April 9,
1953 in the Logan LDS Temple. Dean had many passions throughout his
life, including family, church, auctioneering, horses, and flying. Dean
was the father of seven children with 34 grand-children and 25 great
grand-children (so far), and made it a point to include his family in
his auction business, which is now being operated by his son Lane and
grandson Jared, with great grand-sons already practicing their auction
chants. His family was his pride and joy.

At a young age, Dean decided that he wanted to be an auctioneer and
immediately after graduating from high school enrolled in auction school
in Billings, Montana. Over the span of his career, Dean came to be one
of the most sought after livestock auctioneers and horse experts in
North America, often selling over 300 auctions per year. Tied closely to
his auction business was his love of horses. Over the years, Dean owned
and partnered in some of the most successful horse breeding operations
in the country, owning several world-champion race and show horses. He
was considered by many to be the top expert in Quarter Horse bloodlines.
Due to such a hectic schedule, Dean found it necessary to get his
pilot's license and thoroughly enjoyed flying his own planes. By the
time his health forced him to give up his license and sell his plane, he
had logged over 22,000 hours of pilot time and survived several
nail-biting experiences, including landing a plane in Lake Tahoe.

Dean believed strongly in giving back to the organizations of which he
was a part. He served for several years on the Board of Directors of the
PCQHA and the National Auctioneers Association, eventually being elected
and serving as President of the NAA. In 1994, Dean was inducted into the
National Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame. As part of his commitment
to giving back, Dean ran for, was elected, and served as Cache County
Commissioner in the mid 1980's, and served as the Cache County Fair and
Rodeo Manager for several years.

Dean was devoted to his faith. As a young man he served as a missionary
in Hawaii where he grew to love the people of the islands and remained
very close to many of the people he met there throughout his life.
Shortly after returning from his mission, Dean married Marilyn and,
shortly thereafter, was drafted into the US Army where he served for two
years in Germany as part of the occupation forces along the Iron
Curtain. Though it was a challenging time for them, Dean and Marilyn
made the best of it and came away with many very fond memories, close
friends, and a new appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy in America.
Dean was very grateful for the chance he had to serve his country and
earned several awards and commendations.

Throughout his life, Dean served in several church callings including
Bishop, stake mission president and numerous others. After retiring,
Dean and Marilyn served a Church Education mission in Honolulu, Hawaii
and a Family History mission in Salt Lake City. While in Hawaii, they
were able to work with many of the people, and their families, that Dean
had taught and worked with while a young missionary. In all, Dean served
six missions and enjoyed them all immensely.

Dean is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughter Kina Adams (Jim) of
Yucaipa, CA, son Lane (Susan) of Logan, son Blake (Cheryl) of
Providence, daughter Tonia Prewitt (Larry) of Auburn, CA, daughter
Shellie Pilkington (Ed) of Logan, son Kory (Dawn) of Lehi, UT, son Lance
(Jennifer) of Logan, 34 grand-children, 25 great grand-children, one
brother and two sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents, one
brother and one sister. The family would like to express their sincere
gratitude to the staff of Hospice Services for their kindness and
attentive help.
